Say Hello to Author LaDonna Michele McCann

February 19, 2020 by Chandra Sparks Splond

LaDonna Michele McCann is sharing a few life lessons in her latest book, Hello…It’s Me.

Tell me about your latest book.
My latest book is Hello…It’s Me.  It is a memoir centered around the many salutations I have had in my life. I have had to say hello and goodbye many times.

Why did you decide to write it?
I wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday by reflecting on my life.  So my “lessons learned” transformed into this book.

What do you want readers to learn from the story?
I want readers to better understand me and also better understand themselves.  It is my hope that each “hello” of mine in the book will remind them of their own “hello” they have said in their lives.

What do you want readers to learn from your life?
I want readers to learn that it is ok to say hello to new people and experiences.

What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part of being an author is seeing your words in print; seeing people read those words; and having those same people fall in love with your words.  There is no better feeling.

What’s the worst part of being an author?
The worst part of being an author is finalizing your writing.  It is easy to begin writing a book, but it is difficult to finish.  There is always one more sentence or idea or thought to add.

What’s next for LaDonna Michele McCann?
I have two writing projects that I am currently working on: another devotional and my first novel.  The novel is a work of historical fiction loosely based on my family history.  It has been exciting to fill in the missing gaps in the family oral history.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
I love using my gift of encouragement through my writing.  I want to write inspirational devotionals and stories of faith, family, and the joy of Jesus.  I want what God has put in me to come out in my writing,
