Author Sherron Elise Launches New Podcast

January 6, 2021 by Chandra Sparks Splond

Author Sherron Elise is expanding her reach in 2021 with the launch of a new podcast. I recently spoke with her about The College Christian Chat.

Tell me about your podcast (podcast name, launch date, when will it air, what will you discuss?)
My podcast is called The College Christian chat and the first episode will launch on January 3. It will be a weekly podcast with a new episode each Sunday. I’ll discuss issues pertaining to young women. The topics include faith, spirituality, relationships, self-care and mental health among other things such as lifestyle and current events.

Why did you decide to launch it?
I’ve always had a soft spot for leading and guiding the youth. As I reflected back on my years in college, I remembered how tough it was to stay connected to God. I was faced with so much temptation to follow the world and its trends. With that in mind, I felt led to start a podcast where I could connect to young women. Even though this podcast is geared towards college students, I believe women of various ages can glean insight from what will be discussed on the episodes each week.

What do you want listeners to learn from the podcast?
I want listeners to realize how imperative it is to have a true relationship with God, especially given the times we are living in. Life is not easy and it’s even more difficult when you don’t have a close walk with our creator. As I mentioned young women have so many distractions that the enemy uses to throw them off course. I want to use my past experiences to help prevent them from making some of the same mistakes I did as a young adult.

What has been the hardest part of launching the podcast?
Dealing with doubt. The enemy attempts to play tricks with my head with thoughts such as “Who are you to think you can be God’s mouthpiece, as if you’re so perfect and have your life all together? No one is going to listen to you.” But I love Joyce Meyer’s catchphrase of “Do It Afraid.” I am on an assignment, and I am determined to get it done, remembering that God has not given any of us a spirit of fear.

What advice do you have for people interested in launching a podcast?
Do your research. There are plenty of free resources that can guide you on how to get started. I spent a lot of time watching YouTube videos, reading books on podcasting as well as joining a few podcast oriented Facebook groups.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
Yes, I’d like to encourage anyone reading this blog to subscribe to The College Christian Chat podcast and tune in each week. Also please spread the word. And thank you, Chandra, for featuring the podcast in this blog.
