Author Nina Crespo is back with a new series. I recently spoke with her about A Chef’s Kiss.
Tell me about your latest book.
My latest book is A Chef’s Kiss, the first book in The Small Town Secrets series. It’s a reunited lover’s story featuring two chefs, Philippa and Dominic. It takes place in the same town as my Tillbridge Stables Series.
There’s no denying that the flames that were lit years ago were only banked, not extinguished. Can Philippa trust Dominic enough to let him in…or are they just cooking up another heartbreak?
What inspired you to write it?
Philippa is the best friend of Rina Tillbridge, one of the main characters in the Tillbridge Stables world. Her humor, loyalty, and the encouragement she gave Rina to embrace love stood out to me. As I thought about her backstory, I realized she deserved her own book.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
As a child, my mother would have me read to her as she prepared dinner. This experience influenced my love of books and words.
What’s the best part of being an author?
Creating characters and exploring their world.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
At the moment—deadlines. There never seems to be enough time.
What books have you read lately and loved?
My current schedule hasn’t allowed me a lot of time for reading. Right now, serial stories on apps like Kiss, Choices, and Galatea are satisfying my need to escape.
What book(s) are you most excited to read next?
Too many to list them all here. Darby Baham’s upcoming book, The Shoe Diaries, has caught my attention. I’m in love with the cover.

What’s next for you?
I’m currently working on the second book in the Small Town Secrets series. I’m looking forward to releasing more books next year.
