If you’re looking for your next thriller, author Angela Henry has the perfect book for you. I recently spoke with her about The Perfect Affair.
Tell me about your latest book.
The Perfect Affair is my first domestic thriller in which the lives of a college professor and his wife unravel when his former mistress and colleague disappears without a trace, and he becomes the prime suspect, forcing them both to face dark secrets from their pasts. If the movies Fatal Attraction and Obsessed had a baby, it would be The Perfect Affair.
What inspired you to write it?
My love of old school thrillers from the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s inspired The Perfect Affair.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I’ve loved books since I was a child. They’ve always been my happy place. I was a shy kid, and books fed my imagination and transported me to places I could only dream about. They still do.
What’s the best part of being an author?
For me, the best part of being an author is the creative process of world building and creating characters and their backstories.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
The actual writing part. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older my attention span has gotten shorter, and I can’t sit and write for hours like I used to.
Who would you cast in a movie to play your main characters?
John David Washington as Dr. Aaron Nichols. Nicole Beharie as Paige Nichols. And Kylie Bunbury as Dr. Cara Morton.
What’s next for you?
I’m currently doing edits for my next thriller, The Good Student, which will be out April 17 of this year. I’m also planning to rebrand my Kendra Clayton series with new covers. And, of course, more writing.
