Contemporary romance author Tiye is taking on one of her favorite genres in her latest release. I recently spoke with her about Madly Driven.
Tell me about your latest book.
Madly Driven is a story about a NASCAR driver gunning for his first Formula One win who falls for a love content creator and graduate student in this enemies to lovers.
Why did you decide to write it?
Sports romances are one of my favorite genres, and I wanted to write a different type of one. Black people are starting to support NASCAR and Formula One more than ever before, so I thought it would be fun to write about how a NASCAR driver trains for a Formula One so that readers can understand the difference.
How did you come up with the book’s title?
I wanted to convey the enemies-to-lovers trope in a title, and readers have told me that Kensie and Canaan def drive the readers mad with their back and forth.
What’s the nicest thing a reader has ever said to you?
A reader told me how one of my series helped her get through chemo and beat cancer.
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve always dabbled with writing and wanted to pursue it. About ten years ago, it just came together.
What author would you love to meet?
Ooh…Unfortunately, two writers I would love to meet are no longer here: Lorraine Hansberry, Delores Phillips and Eric Jerome Dickey. I have been blessed to meet Beverly Jenkins and Zane.
What books have you read lately and loved?
Ex-Dilemma, Love on Board, and The Dating Prohibition
What books are at the top of your to-be-read pile?
Started reading Heaven My Home.
What’s next for you?
Legend is on the books for April through Black Odyssey, though I will self-publish one or two in the meantime.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Just go and grab Madly Driven, which is the perfect summer read, full of romance tropes.
