Author B. Love is always up for a challenge, especially when it comes to her writing career. I recently spoke with her about her latest release, The Loyal Wife.
Tell me about your latest book.
The Loyal Wife is a thriller romance that tells the story of Dante, a man who wakes up with amnesia after a car accident. His wife is there for him and helps him return to what she assures him is his normal life, but things begin to happen and not make sense that cause Dante to question her true place and intentions in his life.
Why did you decide to write it?
It was a challenge from N’Tyse, the founder of Black Odyssey Media. I am a romance girly at my core. The niche (contemporary, urban, erotica) often changes. During our first conversation, she presented the challenge to do something different—thriller—and I accepted.
What do you want readers to learn from the story?
I want readers to learn two things: the importance of being true to yourself and your desires and not allowing the guise of loyalty toward family or anyone else for that matter to keep you in an unhealthy situation.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
At the age of 12. It started with poetry and writing raps then developed into full-length books.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
I would be a professor of creative writing or a therapist. I love teaching and getting inside the human mind, which often shows in my books.
Who would you love to coauthor a book with?
I would love to coauthor with KC Mills or Mycah Edwards.
What books have you read lately and loved?
24 Three by KC Mills and Anywhere Under the Moon by Kayelle Gee.
What books are you most excited to read next?
I want to return to my first love, traditional contemporary romance. I want to binge Farrah Rochon and the latest from Brenda Jackson plus Kennedy Ryan.
What’s next for you?
Ideally, I’d like to transition into more traditionally published books, but under the contemporary romance genre.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Outside of The Loyal Wife being my first traditionally published book, Black Odyssey Media also opened the doors for me to bring three of my authors along for the ride as well. They (Kay Shanee, Kimberly Brown, and Mya) have books on the way too.
