Today, we’re celebrating with prolific author Jacquelin Thomas on the release of 100th book. I recently spoke with her about Safe House Security.
Tell me about your latest book.
My latest book is Safe House Security. Deputy US Marshal Nova Bennett and DEA Agent River Randolph must track down the widow of a slain money launderer, who has fled witness protection to escape the deadly Mancuso cartel. As danger escalates and sparks fly between them, Nova and River race against time to find her before the cartel does. Their mission: protect the innocent and survive the deadly pursuit.
Why did you decide to write it?
I decided to write this story because of my love for TV shows and stories about law enforcement’s ongoing battle against drug cartels, and my passion for suspense in general. After writing Guardian Defender, I realized there were more stories to be told in the fight to take down the Mancuso cartel. Honestly, I feel like I’m just along for the ride—the characters are so vivid in my imagination, and they won’t let me go until I finish this series.
What do you want readers to learn from the story?
I want readers to see the relentless determination it takes to fight against forces like drug cartels and how justice is rarely black and white. Through the eyes of Nova and River, I hope readers grasp the emotional weight and sacrifices these agents endure while balancing duty with personal lives. I also want to explore how love and trust can grow in the midst of chaos, and how resilience is key in both survival and relationships. Ultimately, I want readers to reflect on the strength it takes to do the right thing, even when the stakes are life or death.
Safe House Security is your 100th book. How are you celebrating its release?
I celebrated with a party hosted by Vanessa Miller and the Christian Book Lover’s Retreat [CBLR] board during the recent CBLR weekend. I will be celebrating with a private party hosted by family and close friends at the end of the month.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I fell in love with the written word as soon as I learned to read. Books transported me to places I could never imagine, allowing me to relive historic moments and fall in love with larger-than-life characters. They opened up entire worlds where anything was possible, and that sense of adventure and discovery has stayed with me ever since.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior and the power of understanding and helping others work through their challenges. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of someone’s journey toward healing and self-discovery, and that passion runs deep in me. So, my other love is psychology and clinical mental health counseling. If I hadn’t chosen writing, I’d be a psychiatrist.
What books have you read lately and loved?
Lately, I’ve been reading books on addiction counseling, psychopathology and crisis assessment. I’m in school, so there’s not much time for recreational reading. However, I’m still buying books.
What books are you most excited to read next?
Murder in Berkeley Square by Vanessa Riley is on my nightstand
Hometown Homicide by Denise Wheatley
Bitter and Sweet by Rhonda McKnight
What’s next for you?
King David releases December 3. King David is a modern-day retelling of King David’s story in the Bible. Rising R&B star David Winters is on the fast track to fame, but rivalries, temptation, and a dangerous affair with Bathsheba, his bandmate’s wife, threaten his career and his soul. Can he find redemption before his world falls apart?
Do you have anything you would like to add?
I’d like to thank the readers for supporting me all these years. I couldn’t have done this with them. THANK YOU! Also I thank you for all you do to support the writers, Chandra.
