Prolific New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Brenda Jackson has released her 150th book, and she’s stopping by Black Fiction Addiction as part of her celebration. I recently spoke with her about Spilling the Tea.
Tell me about your latest book.
My latest book Spilling the Tea is my 150th book and it tells a modern-day romance between Chancellor Madaris and Zoey Pritchard, as well as the romance between Mama Felicia Laverne and her beloved Milton Madaris. Also it tells the love story of Mama Laverne’s best friend, Victoria Madaris and Waylon Satterfield.
How long did it take you to write it?
Three months before I had to research a lot of the history for the parts of 1950.
Which character could you relate to the most and why?
I can relate to Mama Laverne and Milton’s story because they met and fell in love at an early age. Same with Victoria and Waylon.
This is your 150th book. How are you celebrating its release?
Definitely. I’ve done a book tour to four states and will do others.
What is the most valuable piece of writing advice you’ve received?
Write from your heart and those stories that you believe in.
What books have you read lately and loved?
My own, relating to the Madaris Series, so I can carry forth the right information regarding the family history.
What books are you excited to read?
Any true romance novels.
What’s next for you?
My young adult book that is coming out in May. The characters are from the Madaris Family and Friends Series.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Writing romance stories is my passion; one I love sharing with my readers.
