Author Tiffany L. Warren wants other moms to know that being a parent doesn’t mean you can’t pursue your dreams.
“Someone once spoke a word over my life I will never forget it,” she said. “The minister said, ‘Lord, show her she is more than these children’s mother.’ I was feeling overwhelmed with multiple stair-step babies, and I wondered if I was ever going to have any of my dreams. I would encourage wives and mothers not to wait until their children are grown. Teach them to be self-sufficient and do simple tasks for themselves.”
Having her family onboard has allowed Warren to see her publishing dreams come true. She recently released her latest novel.
“The Pastor’s Husband is about a Nya Hampstead, a pastor with a prophetic gifting. She gets a huge opportunity to minister at a conference, and God doesn’t show up, so she makes up a prophetic word. The woman who received the prophe-LIE, Felicia, has major hardships because of her perverted faith in that made-up word. When her world comes crashing down, Felicia vows revenge on Nya.
“I like to write about things that hinder people from having a relationship with God,” Warren said. “I believe that sometimes people want a bless-ING more than the bless-ER. And I have a major issue with fake prophecies from the pulpit that ‘tickle the ears’ of the congregation. I wanted to write a story about how a pastor with an authentic love of God could get caught up in the trappings of success.”
Since her first novel, What a Sista Should Do, was published in 2005, she has gained a legion of fans.
“I don’t think I made a conscious decision to write Christian fiction. I just did. I was a very new Christian when I started writing, so my first book was all about the power of prayer.
“I like to take off the masks in my books,” she added. “Sometimes ministry is a mask, marriage can be a mask, parenting can be a mask. I like to peel back layers and show life’s struggles, and then guide the reader to Christ for the solution.”
