Author LaJill Hunt Talks ‘Imitation of Wife’

May 27, 2020 by Chandra Sparks Splond

Author and TV writer LaJill Hunt is revisiting some beloved characters in her latest release, Imitation of Wife.

Tell me about your latest book.
My latest book is titled Imitation of Wife. It’s a sequel to a previous release Midlife Crisis.

Why did you decide to write it?
I wanted to continue the storyline and dive a little deeper into the characters Sylvia and Janelle and the consequences of the decisions they made in their relationships. I also wanted to give insight into another character that was mentioned but not featured in the first novel.

Who is your favorite character in the book and why?
My favorite character is probably Aunt Connie, because she’s such a source of wisdom to everyone, and she’s comical as well.

What was the hardest part about writing the story?
I’m not married, nor have I ever been in a successful marriage, so I had no idea what actually happens in marriage counseling. I consulted with one of my sorority sisters who is a relationship therapist, and she helped me understand the process.

If you were to write a book about your life, what would be the title and why?
Tell It Like It Is because I always have something to say and I am quite straightforward.

What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?
It actually takes me longer to come up with an idea for a book than to actually write it. It may take seven to eight months to think of a story line, but once I have it, it takes maybe two to four months to write the full novel. Also, another fun fact is that I don’t chew gum. Never have, never will, LOL.

Tell me about a book that changed your life and why.
Ex-Free: 9 Keys to Freedom After Heartbreak by Troy Byer. It allowed me to deal with life after leaving an abusive marriage over ten years ago and changed my entire outlook on love and relationships. I found an unsurmountable level of peace, joy and freedom in singleness after reading it.

What’s next for you?
In addition to writing novels, I’m also a contributing tv and screen writer, all of which I plan on continuing.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
I’d just like to thank my readers and supporters over the years. I would not be able to do what I love without them, and I’m so appreciative.
