Christian fiction author Sherron Elise is using current events for her latest release. I recently spoke with her about Quarantine Quarrel.
Tell me about your latest book.
It’s titled Quarantine Quarrel. A woman finds herself playing house with her married lover, and it doesn’t take either of them long to discover how incompatible they are. Covert rendezvouses are one thing, but being in each other’s space for an indefinite amount of time is a completely different ball game.
Why did you decide to write it?
Like many others in the midst of this pandemic, I now have a lot time on my hands and the idea just clicked to write a story based on the current state of events. I see funny memes and posts on Facebook about how families are stir crazy from being stuck in the house with their spouse and children all day. So I was struck with the scenario of a man being under quarantine with his mistress. Will their feelings for one another be just as strong now that they have all the time in the world to spend with each other? You’ll have to read the story to find out.
What do you want readers to learn from the story?
This story is a true testament of the old saying ‘the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.’ You can desire something or someone so badly, but once you receive it you’re disappointed to learn it’s not everything you expected.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
Hairstylist. I’ve always been fascinated with beauty salons since I was a child.
What’s the best part of being an author?
Living within my imagination and creating stories readers will enjoy.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
Waiting on certain opportunities. Success is sometimes slow but I’ve learned to trust God and the process.
What’s next for Sherron Elise?
I’m releasing two more books within my Tween series, The Slumber Sisters and I’m also at work on another novel that will be the first book of a four part adult series.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
My prayers of peace and blessings to everyone as we continue to navigate through this pandemic.
