Author and publisher Teri Woods is taking one of her books to the big screen. I recently spoke to her about the theatrical release of True to the Game, Part II.
Tell me about the movie based on your book, True to the Game, Part 2.
The release date is November 6 in theaters. Afterward, it will go to streaming platforms.
Why did you decide to turn the book into a movie?
It has always been my dream to have all my books turned into film. My first deal was in 2001 with Baby and Slim from Cash Money. So, I’ve been trying for a really long time.
What do you want viewers to learn from the movie?
I guess if anything, just know that your life is worth more than any sum of money, and don’t let money turn you against each other.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
I’d like to be a newscaster. I always wanted to deliver the news and be informative.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part of being an author is getting to create characters and bring pages to life.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
The worst part of being an author is…I don’t know. There are no worst parts when you are truly gifted by God.
What’s next for you?
The next part for me is making cartoons from my children’s book line and turning the rest of my books into series and films.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Thank you.
