Author Sean D. Young is back with another romance. I recently spoke with her about The Point of It All.
Tell me about your latest book.
The Point of It All is a story about two people who find each other while they are at a crossroads in their lives. They each have familial issues that have affected their lives.
What inspired you to write it?
Alex Simmons was a complicated guy who’d shown up in the previous books. He was filled with anger, and I had to get to the bottom of why. Tina Webb was an easy-going woman, but she had her issues with her overprotective brother Spyder. She needed to find her independence.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I joined my first book club at the age of seven. I used to go to the library in my neighborhood. I loved checking out new books and signing my name on the little card that went into the pocket in the back. Every summer I always wanted to beat my previous record of number of books read while out on summer break.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The ability to tell the stories of my heart.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
The hardest part about being a writer for me is promotion—making time to create promos and social media content.
What books have you read lately and loved?
Recently, I revisited a book that I’d read before. Marvin Gaye, My Brother by Frankie Gaye. I loved this book and the way Frankie talked about his brother.
What book(s) are you most excited to read next?
I have a TBR pile a mile high. LOL. I have several books in the stack that I can’t wait to read. Mary Monroe’s One House Over is one.
Who would you cast in a movie to play your main characters?
Tina—Kimberly Elise; Alex—Aldis Hodge; Cassaundra—Sharon Leal; Adam—Sterling K. Brown; Spyder— Michael K. Williams; Sara—Tika Sumpter; Alex’s parents—Keith David and Angela Bassett; Tina’s mother—Alfre Woodard.
What’s next for you?
Next up is Secrets from The Heart from Entangled Bliss. This is book 2 in the Clover Creek Series. This is a Hatfields vs. McCoys type story with two of Clover’s most prominent families.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
As always thank you for your support over the years.
