Author Monica Walters is back with another romantic tale. I recently spoke with her about Love On Replay.
Tell me about your latest book.
This book is about a seasoned couple, who have both had their share of heartache, finding love again. The hero (Sheldon Berotte) is a widower who became the single father of five children under the age of ten when his wife dies during childbirth. The heroine (Anissa Dent) is a divorcee who was also forced into single parenthood because her ex had become a drug addict due to him not knowing how to handle unforseen circumstances. Years later, after all their kids are grown, they meet at a barbeque and sparks fly.
What inspired you to write it?
I try to incorporate realism in every book and there is always a need for older characters finding love. Most of my readers are over the age of thirty and are looking for books that depict characters closer to their ages.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I was a teenager when I began writing poetry. I’ve been in love ever since.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part about being an author is being able to create worlds for people to get lost in.
What’s the hardest part of being an author?
The hardest part about being an author is dealing with hateful people. Having tough skin is not enough. You have to have a lot of substance and self-confidence to not let hateful words get to you.
What books have you read lately and loved?
Tame Me by Kimberly Brown and Feel Me in the Dark by Tucora Monique
What book(s) are you most excited to read next?
With Everything in Me by Kimberly Brown and Take Me by the Hand by Tisha Andrews
Who would you cast in a movie to play your main characters?
Hmm. Either Morris Chestnut or Idris Elba for Sheldon Berotte and Vanessa Williams for Anissa Dent.
What’s next for you?
I plan to continue writing, releasing books consistently, and discovering new avenues and opportunities it may lead to.
