Author Teresa B. Talks ‘Delayed but Not Denied’

October 12, 2022 by Chandra Sparks Splond

As author Teresa B. prepares to participate in the Christian Book Lover’s Retreat, she took a few minutes to chat with Black Fiction Addiction about her latest release.

Tell me about your latest book.
The last book published was called Delayed but Not Denied.  It is a page turner that has the reader guessing all the way until the final chapter.  A preacher’s wife falls in love with a young and thriving minister.  He leaves to go to college and comes back with a wife.  The wheels of jealousy and envy churn as the first lady isn’t going to give up on her soul tie.  The book takes you on a chase for love, answers, and broken promises.  But in the end, love wins with the married couple.  Part 2 will reveal what happened to the first lady in the sequel First Lady of The Night.

Why did you decide to write it?
I didn’t actually decide, lol. I was told by a church member that God said to write.  I was like “write what?” I decided to take the leap of faith and listen to the calling.  Once I started to light up the pen, I haven’t stopped.

What do you want readers to learn from the story?
That the impossible can be possible when you least expect it to.  When I started writing, I was at the lowest point of my life.  I had lost my mom, and writing became therapeutic to me.  I didn’t even fathom that not only would writing heal me, but it would change my life completely,

What do you want readers to learn from your life?
So much has happened in my life.  Let’s see…readers can learn that a little brown girl from the hood of Dorchester, Massachusetts, can still rise to the top in spite of all the odds against her.  If God did it for me, he can do it for you,

What can readers expect from you if they attend CBLR?
I am very sociable.  I love to talk, laugh and make new friends.  They should expect this overly energetic five-foot-even lady embracing them with hugs, conversation, and laughter.  Oh and books too.  Lol.

What’s something readers would be surprised to know about you?
They would be surprised to find out that my ultimate goal at age 19 was to become Janet Jackson’s backup singer.  Ironically, I have interviewed her brothers and have become good friends with her vocal coach.  Maybe I still have a chance.

What books have you read lately and loved?
I am now reading Along Came a Spider by James Patterson.  I can’t say I am in love with the story just yet but I love learning from his writing style.

What books are you excited to read?
Mystery thriller and suspense book.  Every now and again I will read an urban novel, but I would really like to get into reading historical fiction.

What’s next for you?
I will continue to write.  That Church Life 4 should be finished soon.  I will also start my podcast back up in January called Amplified Exposure LIVE.  I am excited about venturing into the movie world and writing a few scripts, so stay tuned.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
Overcomers never quit, and quitters never overcome.
