Author Synithia has busy few months ahead. I recently spoke with her about one of her upcoming releases, Waiting for Friday Night.
Tell me about your latest book.
Waiting for Friday Night is the second full-length novel in my Peachtree Cove Series (there are three novellas in the series, but that’s another story). It’s a twist on the secret baby trope because neither the heroine, Halle Parker, nor the hero, Quinton Evans realize that they share a child. Halle made the decision to use an anonymous donor to have a child after losing her parents and, surprise, Quinton turns out to not only be that donor, but also her daughter’s football coach! Now they both have to figure out this co-parenting thing and if the sparks flying between them can last.
How long did it take you to write it?
It usually takes me about six months or more to write a story. Because Waiting for Friday Night is part of a series, I’ve been thinking about the story and how it fits in the Peachtree Cove world from the beginning. Even while writing book one, The Secret to a Southern Wedding, I would brainstorm ideas for Waiting for Friday Night.
Which character could you relate to the most and why?
I really related to Halle. Her drive to be the best mom and career woman resonated with me. Sometimes I push myself so hard that I forget it’s okay to accept help from others. It’s one of the same lessons Halle has to learn as she and Quinton create their new family.
How are you celebrating the book’s release?
My book celebrations are usually small. I work full time, but after work I’ll drink a glass of champagne and have something sweet to go with it.
Who is your author best friend (either in your head or in real life)?
I’ve got some great author friends that help support me, but the two that I talk to most often are Cheris Hodges and K.D. King.
What is the most valuable piece of writing advice you’ve received?
Someone recently told me to just be me and write what I want. It came right on time. I was also told that it’s okay to take a break. I needed to hear that, too.
What books have you read lately and loved?
I’m late to the game, but I’m currently reading Kiss and Spell by Celestine Martin. I love this series because it’s a fun and flirty paranormal series. This story is about a cursed fae prince and a witch, and I’m mad every time someone pulls me away from the story!
What books are you excited to read?
I’m looking forward to reading Pardon My Frenchie by Farrah Rochon. I love her romances and can’t wait to get my hands on this.
What’s next for you?
I’ve got a few things coming up. I have another book releasing this month, A Little Bit of Love, comes out just a week after Waiting for Friday Night. It’s a spinoff of my popular Heart and Soul Series, and I looked forward to writing this book for a while. For those wanting more Peachtree Cove, I’ve also got a Peachtree Cove novella releasing June 4 called Frenemies to Lovers.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Thank you so much for interviewing me and showing interest in my books! I appreciate every reader. I get so much inspiration knowing that there are people out there who want to read the stories I write.
