Author Noué Kirwan has found that sometimes love can be found in unexpected places. She used the idea for her latest release, Frequent Fliers.
Tell me about your latest book.
It’s called Frequent Fliers, and I like to call it a “travel romance”: Prepping for her British cousin’s impending wedding, Lanie Turner finds love flying across the Atlantic from New York City to London—often in the company of handsome fellow passenger, Ridley Aronsen, a doctor doing the reverse commute.
Why did you decide to write it?
Many years ago, I had a chance encounter with someone in the airport food court only to later find them on the exact same flight as me in a totally different terminal, dozens of gates away. From that random encounter, and the many other engaging characters I’ve met on my travels, came the initial idea for Frequent Fliers. It felt like a story people, especially avid travelers, could understand and enjoy.
What do you want readers to learn from the story?
I’m actually not in the business of teaching people anything with my stories. If they do “learn” something, that’s great, but I’m far more interested in telling an engaging story they can get immersed in. Frequent Fliers is just meant to be a tale of two very different people finding love where and when they least expect it.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I learned to read quite young because my grandmother was a teacher. But initially, I was a little reluctant until I discovered Judy Blume, then I was off and running! Conversely, I caught the writing bug early. I started writing stories as soon as I learned to write (and spell), and by fourth grade, I was reading them aloud to my classmates.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
I used to want to be a screenwriter. I love film and television as a storytelling medium and going to the movies is still my number one pastime.
What’s the best part of being an author?
Imagining new stories and discovering new characters; coming up with the initial premise.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
The actual writing. LOL!
What books have you read lately and loved?
Don’t Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones, The Emperium Trilogy by Claire LeGrand and Not In Love by Ali Hazelwood
What’s next for you?
I’m trying something a little different for me. A bit a departure from my first two books.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
I’m just really excited to share Frequent Fliers with people after dreaming up the story years ago and holding on to it for so long.
