It’s been 17 years since Christian author Pat Simmons released her book, Guilty of Love. Now she’s focusing on the next generation in the popular series. I recently spoke with her about Accomplices in Love.
Tell me about your latest release.
Accomplices in Love is the next generation of the Jamieson Legacy, featuring grown-up children. Parke K. Jamieson VIII, aka Pace, has an emotional past like his sisters Kami and Victoria. Readers will root for his happiness when he meets the love of his life: Harmony Reed. But there are a couple of roadblocks. The trope is “my best friends’ brother.” Is a relationship possible with Harmony’s friendships with Kami and Victoria challenged? The subplot is life after college and facing adult situations in the workplace and distance.
Why did you decide to write it?
Staying with the theme of the guilty books, I wanted a story that could play into criminal terms like guilty, confession, acquittal, contempt, and more… but my stories are Christian fiction, so the only person who has actually been arrested and thrown in jail is Grandma BB.
What was your most memorable experience writing this book?
Giving the next generation of Jamiesons their platform to address topics that are important to young adults now. It’s been almost seventeen years since the first book in the series, Guilty of Love, was released.
Which character in the book would you like to have as a best friend and why?
That’s a hard one because friendships are a big part of the Jamieson saga. I would say either one of the Queens. Queen BB Robnett, who will have her own story, and Queen Jamieson Dupree. Those cousins are fierce, loyal, and stunning.
What’s something readers would be surprised to learn about you?
I don’t think there are any surprises with me because I’m an open book. My convictions come across in the stories I write. On social media, readers learn my personality, interests, and family.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Sewing, and it’s National Sewing Month. Yay.
What’s the most difficult part of being an author?
Deadlines. Most of the time, I meet them, but this year, writing three books at the same time was overwhelming. Never again will I not consult the Lord before committing to that type of workload.
Who are some of your favorite authors, and what are some of their books you love?
That’s one question I don’t like answering because there are so many.
What’s next for you?
I’m rough drafting the fourth book in The Intercessors series, Day of Salvation, where the spiritual warfare continues. The Lord took me out of my comfort zone with this series, but I’m thankful because I feel with the help of my developmental editor, I’m allowing God to write His message to the readers.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
Thank you for this opportunity!
