Author Tiye has learned that sometimes writing The End is just the beginning. She recently finished her popular A Love for All Seasons Series with the release of The Wedding Season.
Tell me about your latest book.
The Wedding Season is the last book in the A Love for All Seasons Series. It’s the culmination of the romantic lives of four headstrong sisters and the men who dare to love them.
Why did you decide to write it?
This was my first series about women and family. Prior to A Love for All Seasons, my stories were more focused on purely relationships. The Locke sister stayed in my mind and though I thought I was done with A Summer Storm, their stories still felt unfinished. After some starts and stops, I finally finished their journeys to love.
What do you want readers to learn from the story?
Love is a winding road, and it’s never that simple, and yet it is that simple.
When did you fall in love with the written word?
I have loved reading since I could remember. My paternal grandmother was a librarian and I remember going to her library and loving when she and others read to us.
If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
Writing is my other profession because it is my passion and relaxation. Mental health professional and professor in my everyday life.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The freedom to create whatever story my mind invents.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
That sometimes readers dictate what stories I write since this is also a business for me.
What books have you read lately and loved?
I don’t have the time to read like I used to since any spare time is writing. I did read a couple of ARCs for writers that I can’t yet mention that I thoroughly enjoyed. I plan to start reading again and cut back on my books next year. I need a break to enjoy reading again, especially books I’ve been dying to get to.
What’s next for you?
Still debating whether to do a Christmas novella to follow up to Seven Peppermint Kisses. In the new year, Rifts and Refrains will be published in ebook/paperback and will probably do an epilogue. I have a couple of writing projects can’t talk about yet. A follow-up to Chicago Blues and one more book in the FANtasy series is def on the schedule since I already have audios planned to release whenever I drop the ebook/paperback.
Do you have anything you would like to add?
I just thank blogs and supporters like Black Fiction Addiction [for keeping] us going.
