Fall in ‘Love’ with Romance Author Kasha Thompson

April 23, 2025 by Chandra Sparks Splond

Romance author Kasha Thompson is delivering a small-town romance that offers all the feels. I recently spoke with her about Love You a Little Bit.

Tell me about your latest book.
My next release is called Love You a Little Bit. It’s book 1 of The Birch Sibling Series. It’s a small-town romance with childhood friends that reconnect when Francesca, a pop country music star returns to her hometown after catching her boyfriend cheating. This book includes relatable characters, humor, and spice.

Why did you decide to write it?
About two years ago I was attempting to reconnect with country music. I made a playlist, and while listening, the story idea came to me. I ended up creating the book premise and drafting the first chapter during that listening session.

What do you want readers to learn from the story?
That Black women and men are deserving of love. That Black love exists and it’s beautiful, complex, scary, and funny all at the same time.

When did you fall in love with the written word?
I’ve loved to read for most of my life. I remember my mother taking us to the library for the first time and getting my library card. Books are a form of escape, and growing up, it allowed me to dream of a future life beyond what I was used to.

If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
A cookie maker. Like the really fun detailed cookies. Can I bake? No. Do I have any artistic ability? No. I follow several cookie artists online, and I just find the whole process relaxing. And I could be my own boss.

What’s the best part of being an author?
Being able to tell the stories that for years were just in my head. I love when a story comes together and the process of creating these characters.

What’s the worst part of being an author?
I think for me it’s the impostor syndrome. I’m ten books in and still uncertain about my place in the bookish space. When I feel this way, I try to talk myself through it. I’m still learning and improving as an author each day. And I deserve to be in this space.

What books have you read lately and loved?
I read Kennedy Ryan’s This Could Be Us. I mean it’s Kennedy Ryan so that usually means instant love for me.

What’s next for you?
After Love You a Little Bit is released, the remainder of the year will focus on my other series Las Vegas Ramblers with the release of book 3 and audiobooks for Defensive Stance and Jump Ball.
