Brandon Massey Has ‘Good Intentions’ with His Latest Release

May 28, 2025 by Chandra Sparks Splond

For author Brandon Massey, being bad is oh so good. I recently spoke with him about his latest release, Good Intentions.

Tell me about your latest book.
From the book cover:
Nate Noble has it all—a thriving business, a loving fiancée, and a bright future. But his world takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Marvin Waters, the childhood best friend he hasn’t seen in thirty years.

Marvin is a man beaten down by life, haunted by a troubled past and barely scraping by. Driven by guilt and a desire to do the right thing, Nate extends a helping hand, offering Marvin a job and a fresh start.

But good deeds don’t always go unpunished.

Marvin hasn’t forgotten what happened when they were just boys—-and the role Nate played in his downfall. Resentment lurks beneath his gratitude, and as he weaves himself into Nate’s life, a sinister plan begins to unfold. By the time Nate discovers the truth, it may already be too late.

Friendships might fade–but some grudges never die…

How long did it take you to write it?
About five months.

Which character could you relate to the most and why?
Nate Noble. He’s a good guy trying to do the right thing, yet his actions keep landing him into deeper trouble. I can relate to someone who has good intentions yet still winds up dealing with an unexpected mess.

How are you celebrating the book’s release?
In addition to the usual social media blitz, I am planning a live Zoom call with readers to discuss the new book. During this call I will be giving away signed copies of the new novel as well.

Who is your author best friend (either in your head or in real life)?
My most significant author connection was with Dean Koontz, whom I had reached out to when I was first starting out. He shared a tremendous amount of insights with me. I haven’t communicated with him in a while but his guidance is still extremely useful to me.

What is the most valuable piece of writing advice you’ve received?
Always have a new book in the pipeline–staying busy on writing projects can help you stop stressing over upcoming releases. Koontz told me this, by the way. 🙂

What books have you read lately and loved?
The Man the Moment Demands by Jason Wilson. It is self-improvement, non-fiction. I’d say it is required reading for grown men.

What books are you excited to read?
I’m a big fan of S.A. Cosby, and I’m looking forward to picking up his newest thriller later this summer.

What’s next for you?
I’m deep into writing my next thriller. I plan to publish it before the end of the year.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
Please check out Good Intentions and tell a friend. 🙂
