Author Denise M. Walker Finds Purpose in Her Pain

September 25, 2020 by Chandra Sparks Splond

Author Denise M. Walker is using her past to help others. I recently spoke with her about Barren Womb.

Tell me about your latest book.
Barren Womb is near and dear to my heart. This women’s Christian fiction book is focused on the truth of physical and spiritual barrenness. In Barren Womb, the main character experiences loss and struggles with trusting God as all that she has experienced from childhood to her current situation causes her to unravel, one layer at a time.

Why did you decide to write it?
I decided to write Barren Womb because I experienced physical and spiritual barrenness myself. Although a large percent of the events are fiction, the core is based on my life.

What do you want readers to learn from the story?
I want women to know that barrenness is beyond the physical, and Christ is the answer and our healer.

If you could pick another profession, what would it be and why?
I am actually an educator. I would pick education again if I had a choice because I love teaching and helping others. It also helped develop what God had already put in me, to minister the Word and help others grow through biblical literacy and be restored from their past.

What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part of being an author is inspiring and encouraging others.

What’s the worst part of being an author?
I wouldn’t say there is a worst part, but you have to manage your time wisely. Also, marketing can be a bit much sometimes.

What’s next for you?
I plan to release book two of The Redemption Series soon. I have already outlined the story. I will also be releasing my second Bible strategies journal soon.

Do you have anything you would like to add?
I would like to encourage others to walk out God’s purpose.
